We look at how to deal with a negative body image, courtesy of the TEN81 Centre in Pretoria. This involves understanding that healthy, attractive bodies come in many shapes and sizes.

• Don’t accept what the media says about how you should look

• Remember that numbers on a scale don’t tell you everything

• Realise that you cannot change your body type

• Stop comparing your body with others - they are not you

• Learn to move with and enjoy your body, because it makes you feel good

• Spend time with people who have healthy relationships with food, activity and their bodies
